EARTH DAY TODAY MONDAY

Good morning Party People! Another glorious Monday morning. Mondays have been looked at as the worst day of the week.

  • MONDAY IS THE MOST LIKELY DAY TO COMMIT SUICIDE: The Office for National Statistics in England found 16% of male suicides and 17% of female suicides occurred on Mondays, compared to 13% on the weekend days. Researchers said the trend was not solely a result of returning to work as it was also seen in retired people. source

  • OR HAVING A HEART ATTACK: The British Medical Journal reported a 20% increase in heart attacks on Mondays as opposed to the other days of the week. The attacks may be caused by stress and high blood pressure caused by returning to work. source

  • OVER 50% OF EMPLOYEES ARE LATE TO WORK: Comming up with a believable excuse to call out on a Monday is nearly impossible. Good luck with trying, being late is better than being absent.
Here are some positive Monday facts:
  • MONDAY IS THE LEAST RAINY DAY OF THE WEEK: Some believe it's due to man-made pollution subsiding over the weekend. source

  • MONDAY IS THE BEST DAY TO BUY A CAR: Believe it or not, there are positive things about Monday. For instance, when you're going to shop for a new car, do it on a Monday. Car salespeople make the bulk of their sales on the weekends. When Monday rolls around, there are usually few customers in sight, and the weekend is a long way off. That's why car salespeople are more desperate on Monday, and they'll be more willing to cut you a deal. source
Today, Monday, April 22, 2019, is EARTH DAY!

Earth Day is an annual event celebrated on April 22. Worldwide, various events are held to demonstrate support for environmental protection.
According to Gaylord Nelson, the moniker "Earth Day" was "an obvious and logical name" suggested by a lot of other people in the fall of 1969, including, he writes, both "a friend of mine who had been in the field of public relations" and "a New York advertising executive," Julian Koenig.[25] Koenig, who had been on Nelson's organizing committee in 1969, has said that the idea came to him by the coincidence of his birthday with the day selected, April 22; "Earth Day" rhyming with "birthday," the connection seemed natural.[26][27]

Good Morning

I ask myself this morning,

 "What is my purpose"?

  • To be close with God
  • To show my light to any and everyone and when asked what that light is or where it's come from, tell them God is shining through me
  • Be humble... I shouldn't know when I'm being humble or I may not even be being humble
  • Help someone else quietly
  • Be grateful
  • Take time to be still
  • Love

So what's your purpose for today?

Let's spread knowledge and Love.

Early Morning Thoughts

My body wakes up at 5:30 no matter what these days. I rather like it. I used to hate being up before 9 am and really before Noon. Businesses aren't open, it's still dark but the vibe isn't the same as when night falls.
I have an all-electric car now and so I'm starting a routine of charging at a charging station which takes about 30 mins. So, while I wait I write.
I get sober, a home, and good food in my body and this is what I produce.
This is just a flop piece as I see it but it's like getting a body in shape, practice, practice, practice.
It's cool to be writing again. My finger placement is al off so I'll be doing a lot of editing. For example... I want to type something but it comes out like this, JUst am exam0pl... exampl). LOL!
Stay on this amazing rollercoaster called life with me. It's a heck of a ride.

Just my early morning thoughts.

Day 2 30/30 Poetry Challenge

I'm in love with the prompt from http://www.napowrimo.net of day 2 of the National Poetry Month 30/30 Challenge (30 Poems in 30 days!?!?!)

Taking a cue from our craft resource, an essay by Katie Rensch on the poetic “I”we’d like to challenge you to write a poem that plays with voice. For example, you might try writing a stanza that recounts something in the first-person, followed by a stanza recounting the same incident in the second-person, followed by a stanza that treats the incident from a third-person point of view. Or you might try a poem in the form of a dialogue, which necessarily has two “I” speakers, addressing two “you”s. Another way to go is to take an existing poem of yours or someone else’s, and try rewriting it in a different voice. The point is just to play with who is speaking to who and how. Happy writing!

When I first saw you we were young
I thought you couldn’t see me
Young and dumb
You were the first to make me cry
You were the last before we died
The moment I knew
That moment I shared
I shared it with you
My last moment was our moment
I died alone with you

You looked at me the moment we died the same exact way you did when we were young
I could never look at you like that then
I couldn't look at you at all
Young and dumb
I've hurt you so many times
I wish it were me alone who died
In your arms
Or by my bedside
I said to myself when I first saw you
I want to grow old and die with that one
That one was you
I died alone with that day with you

I was there
The day they met
I was there the day they died
You should have seen the look in their eyes

April 1st Kicks Off The 1st Day of the 30/30 National Poetry Month Challenge

Today, we challenge you to write a poem that is based on a secret shame or a secret pleasure. It could be eating too many cookies or bad movies, or the time you told your sister she could totally brush her teeth with soap. It’s up to you. Happy writing!

A Secret Only I Can Keep

You make me laugh so hard my insides are bursting at the seems.
You asked me to tell you a secret and offered to do the same,
You promised to keep my secret
You promised to feel every ounce of pain,
You promised to keep your promises while you keep my secret pleasures and damning shame.
I don't want your secrets, those are yours to claim.
What makes a secret exactly what it is?
When does the trust end and the honesty begin?
If I told you what it is that I keep locked up, safely inside my heart, soul, spirit, mind,
If I shared the most inner parts of me,
If I released the quiet storm that rests only with me would it still be a secret or would it go by a new name?
How can I believe that you can hold on to my pain when it's not yours to brave?
What makes you think I would betray myself simply because you offered what you say is your own version of pleasure or pain?
I don't know how to play this game,
I am not interested in sharing my pain,
I keep mine and you can do the same.
So I lie and say that you are my pleasure and that I have no shame.
That is my secret, This is my God damn shame,
I lie to keep my secrets resting where they stay.
I lie to keep my honesty safe from pain.
You knew all along that I couldn't fake my shame so your test proved positive and nothing has changed.
We live in lies and secret shames built on top of the secret pleasures we both long for but die to save, never knowing fully what it's like to be free of the shame, pain, and misery we create and keep.
We live in lies and secret pains built on top of the secret pleasures we both long for but die to selfishly save, never knowing even for a second what it's like to be free and indulge in the pleasures of sharing all of ourselves together honestly, infinitely, sincerely as the real you and the real me.
Hush, while I tell you a secret, but once I do I'll disappear, I hope you come too.

FEATURED

"We are taught as daughters to stay quiet and not make a scene. I had to learn to be loud, rough, and mean. I don't want girls to go through what I have since 16."

-Thank you for this post Kristal Kay Schlichting-Fees on Facebook!

Once again right on time during a conversation about this exactly. Not sure if this is your original quote or something you felt needed to be repeated either way, please keep being you and letting your soul be free with expression.

Today's Doodle? Guillermo Haro

Today, Doodle is honoring astronomer Guillermo Haro and his 105th birthday. He was born on March 21, 1913 and died on April 26, 1988, after a long and successful career in astronomy. He married a famous journalist and made numerous discoveries in science that led to a galaxy and an observatory being named after him.

Guillermo Haro Barraza Started Out Studying Philosophy Before He Discovered Astronomy

Haro was born in Mexico in 1913 to Haro and Leonor Barraza. He grew up during the Mexican revolution. Interestingly, he didn’t get his education in astronomy, he actually studied philosophy at the National Autonomous University of Mexico and intended to have a law career. In 1943, he was hired as an assistant to Luis Enrique Erro at the Observatorio Astrofiscio de Tonantzintla. This is where his love of astronomy began. He worked at the Harvard College Observatory from 1943 to 1944 and returned to Mexico in 1945. In 1947, he began working for the Observatorio de Tacubaya of the UNAM.

He Made Numerous Contributions & Discoveries in Astronomy.

Haro made numerous scientific contributions, including discovering the Herbig-Haro objects. These are small, bright nebula that form near regions where stars recently formed. They are created when fast-moving jets of material from new stars collide with a type of interstellar medium. This creates shock waves that ionize gas. An emission line of electrons and ions forms as the gas cools, creating the Herbig-Haro objects. These were discovered simultaneously and independently by George Herbig.
Haro also discovered flare stars in the Orion constellation, and in stellar aggregates of different ages. Haro also listed 8,746 blue stars in the direction of the north galactic pole, 50 of which turned out to be quasars (which actually had not been discovered yet.) In 1956 he listed 44 blue galaxies, and discovered T Tauri stars, a supernova, more than 10 novae, and a comet.
Because of his discoveries, Haro was the first Mexican (and the first person from a developing country) elected to the Royal Astronomical Society. He received this honor in 1959.

A Galaxy & an Observatory Are Named After Him.

Haro first included the galaxy Haro 11in a study he published in 1956 that listed blue galaxies. It’s a small starbust galaxy that has “super star clusters” within it. It’s one of only nine galaxies in the local universe known to emit Lyman Continuum photons.
The Guillermo Haro Observatory in Sonora is named after Haro. It’s owned and operated by the National Institute of Astrophysics, Optics, and Electronics. The telescope began operating in 1992. Its purposes including making atmospheric extinction measurements and monitoring light pollution.

His Son Made a Documentary About Him.

Haro had three children: Emmanuel (born in 1955), Felipe (born in 1968), and Paula (born in 1970). Felipe Haro Poniatowski is a filmmaker who made a documentary about his dad that explored Haro’s life and interviewed people who were close to him. The documentary was produced by TV UNAM and Puebla TV. Emmanuel is a professor in the Department of Physics at a university in Mexico.

Sad, Lonely, Tired, and Confused

I spent the day dreading the night. I couldn't even enjoy my time alone doing whatever I want during the day while the dog is away making his hourly pay. Instead I rushed through things not getting much done. My body is sore and i don't feel good. Here he comes....
